Hannah Miller is a Bench Jeweler and lives in Saint Louis, Missouri. She has over a decade of experience at the bench.
Her love for jewelry blossomed at a very young age when her grandmother would invite her to play with the costume jewelry in her jewelry chest, but she would not realize her connection to jewelry in a professional way for quite some time.
Hannah has a flare for the creative and had taken several types of art classes while she was growing up. Fortunately, her high school offered many intriguing art and language classes which aided in shaping her professional personality that it is today. She began taking classes in Italian and is now conversational in the language. In her junior year at Bloomington High School South in Bloomington, Indiana, she decided to branch out and take some art classes that were more focused on jewelry arts and metalsmithing - and she loved it! In 2008, she graduated from BHSS with an Honors Diploma.
From there, Hannah enrolled at Indiana University as a student of Psychology with a minor concentrating on furthering her interests in the Italian language. After two years at Indiana University, she realized that a degree in Psychology was no longer what she was interested in pursuing. Her passion for jewelry and metalsmithing was still very strong, and with the support of her family and friends she packed up her car and moved to Carlsbad, California in 2010 to attend the Gemological Institute of America. There she completed the Applied Jewelry Arts and Graduate Jeweler programs and received diplomas for each. During this time, she worked in Encinitas, California at a bead store called Beads, Crystals & More! There, she performed some minor jewelry repairs, and gained experience in retail as well as sight identification of some more common types of gemstones.
She moved to Los Angeles, California in 2012 after graduating from G.I.A. and was employed as a wax specialist for King Baby Studio. She made hundreds of wax models daily to be cast on a mass production scale. During this time, she also founded Metal With Meaning, L.L.C. to create pieces for a few jewelry designers in need of a bench jeweler to make their ideas come to life.
After about one year, Hannah returned to Bloomington, Indiana because living in California was becoming quite expensive. Upon her return to Bloomington, she landed a job at Gold Casters where she spent the next few years building her skills at the bench and learning from some amazing mentors.
In 2015, she moved to Lexington, Kentucky for a job as a diamond setter for Tiffany and Company. There she worked with a very talented team of jewelers and honed her skills even further at the bench while learning how to be extremely efficient at any task. After spending the year in Lexington, she decided to make a geographical change and moved to Saint Louis, Missouri where she currently operates Metal With Meaning, L.L.C. Hannah has really enjoyed living here over the last couple of years. In her spare time Hannah really enjoys swimming, kayaking, riding her bike, catching live music, painting, drawing, reading, and playing chess.
She hopes to develop a strong client base from surrounding areas. Hannah really enjoys working closely with clients to achieve a beautiful and meaningful result. Contact Hannah to create your next gift or repair your broken items, no matter what the occasion!
